My goal for today was to finish my second 1B exam. I saw a 16 year old boy who can't remember the last time he went to the dentist. He had a lot of interproximal caries because he hasn't been flossing very well. I got my 1B exam done, and I only missed one deposit at my scale check! My goal for Monday is to get both of my patients done and pass off a PE.

March 26, 2007

My goal for today was to get done with the health history 30 minutes after my patient arrived. I think I was pretty close. I looked up all my patients medications before she came it, but I had to copy them all over, so it still took a lot of time. My patient today wasn't too bad though because I got to take BWX and she was classified as a class 2 on the two lower quads which moved me closer to getting my requirements finished! I scaled my patient's two lower quads and rescheduled her to do the two upper quads. I still need to find one more 1A patient. My goal for Wednesday is to do my second 1B exam patient .

March 21, 2007

My goal for today was to be helpful as the CA. It tried to help out every way that I could, and I stayed busy. It was nice to not have to worry about a patient today. I enjoyed getting patients checked out and counting the money at the end. My patient for Monday has a list a mile long of all the medications she takes. I tried to tell her today that I couldn't see her, but she insisted that she has to get in. Hopefully I can get most of the health history done before her appt. My goal for Monday is to be done with the health history 30 min. after she gets here.

March 19, 2007

My goal for today was to pass off at least one PE. I didn't reach my goal, but I got my patient finished today. I saw a lady who brought in her 5 kids today. It was a bit crazy because everyone kept needing signatures from her for her kids. I was glad that I got her finished, and I get to have 2 of the kids come back and do sealants on them! After that I will be done with all my sealant patients. I am getting a little worried that I am not going to get my BWX requirements done because I still need 5 more BWX patients. My goal for next time is to be helpful as the CA.

My goal for today was to pass off my ultrasonic and area-specific PE's. I passed off those PE's along with my selective polishing and peer PPE PE's. I felt like it has been a very productive day. I got to work with Steph Stokes on a class IV patient. It was such a great learning experience for me. I am feeling more comfortable with finding calculus with my explorer and using the ultrasonic. I still need to work on getting the ultrasonic all the way interproximal. My goal for next time is to pass off at least one PE.

My goal for today was to fill out my paper work correctly. I don't know how I did for sure yet, but I feel good about it. I didn't take any x-rays, so I didn't have to worry about that. I feel like my patient wasn't very productive because I didn't do anything that got me any closer to getting my requirements done. I thought that I would be able to take x-rays on her, but I didn't even get to do that. I just got 2 quads of a 1B scaled. Her health history was a monster to write about. I was over an hour late in starting any kind of treatment because I spent most of the morning going over her health history. My goal for Wednesday is to pass off my ultrasonic and area-specific scaling PE's.

February 28, 2007

My goal for today was to scale in 30 min. I almost made my goal because I finished scaling in 35 min. I had my sister come in and be my exam patient. Her health history was a bit challenging because she has a couple diseases and is taking about 5 medications. I missed a couple spots on my scale check, mainly on the distal of 2 of her second molars. I felt like it was a good experience. One mistake I made was forgetting to have her sign that she took her x-rays. My goal for next Monday is to get all my paper work filled out correctly.
